  6. Old Stone Age Begins • Paleolithic Age- 2.5 million to 8000 BC • Stone age • Oldest stone chopping tools • Neolithic Age- 8000 to 3000 BC • Polish stone tools • Make pottery • Grow crops/raise animals

  7. Homo Habilis • 2.5 million years ago • Found in southern and eastern Africa • Means man of skill • Used tools

  9. Homo Sapiens • Means “wise man” • Neanderthal man- 200,000 to 30,000 • Religious beliefs, rituals • Lived in caves • Cut up and skinned prey • Survived ice age • Flute 43,000 to 80,000 years • Cave painting 35,000 years
