  2. Ranging Editor’s Opening Report(Vancouver) Teleconference activity between Garden Grove and Vancouver Brethour, Time Domain

  3. There were 7 teleconference calls between Garden Grove and Vancouver. • We worked through all of the Monday holidays this time. (Labor Day in the US.) • Holidays remain problematic for Rangers because they fall disproportionately on Mondays. • We will NOT have a call on Monday the 26’th of December (Boxing Day in the UK) Brethour, Time Domain

  4. The call times have switched from Daylight Savings time to Standard time. • Apologies to Japan and Singapore. • 8 AM US Central remains the best compromise. Brethour, Time Domain

  5. The teleconference minutes (as approved) are on the wirelessworld document server. • 05-0639r0 covers the period from Sept 12 through October 31. • 05-0513r0 covers the 2 months preceding Garden Grove. Brethour, Time Domain

  6. Major topics on the calls: • Drafting mechanics. • CCA / CSMA / ALOHA signaling and network management. • Private ranging. Brethour, Time Domain

  7. The CCA issue. • We have already chosen a UWB preamble and data modulation structure which does not support CCA very well. • Yihong Qi and Bin Zhen continue to work on ways to improve that situation. Brethour, Time Domain

  8. The Private Ranging issue. • Zafer and Lars and Arnaud made presentations to clarify what levels of privacy are supported and how. • Jamming resistance will not be supported. Brethour, Time Domain

  9. Work to do in Vancouver. • Define the actual definition of the bits for the ranging figure of merit. • Hammer out a draft! Brethour, Time Domain
