  1. The Great Pacific Race • Represents the toughest human challenge on Earth. • 20 crews, from around the world compete to be the fastest to row from California to Hawaii. • Row boats are 100% human powered, no sails, no engines. • Crews row around the clock on a punishing non-stop schedule. • Yachts shadow the fleet to broadcast race reports and assist in case of emergency. • Race lasts for up to 3 months securing multiple opportunities for exposure. • Race start is June 7 2014

  2. The boats • Purpose built, robustly constructed and carefully examined to ensure safety and compliance with race rules. • Solar panels charge electrical system which powers water desalination, lights, navigation and communication systems. • Conditions on board are stark, the bathroom is a bucket. There is no fridge, no TV and no shower. • Crews typically row 2 hours on before resting for 2 hours and then repeating the cycle 24/7 for the duration of the race.

Engagement and media • Positions of all crews are updated hourly to the race website. • All crews will blog and post updates to all social media platforms using satellite telephone connections. • Weekly race updates broadcast with the latest news and footage from the middle of the ocean during racing. • Implanted media team will distribute press releases and b-roll throughout the race covering the most newsworthy stories. • Guinness World Records are certain for many participants. • Media pickup on stories about the race during preparation, race and after the event finishes extending the global exposure received.

Some of our entrants • Varied backgrounds of race crews from Olympic athletes and Ultra-marathon runners to adventurous individuals. • Amazing stories about our entrants are already being told Alex Flynn – Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Alex has one goal – To do all he can to help find a cure by raising money for The Cure Parkinson’s trust. He has completed multiple ultra-distance marathons and multi day running events. Roman Kristl– Born in Slovakia, Roman became part of the Olympic kayaking team before evading the Communist Government and seeking asylum in California. Completed in many multi day adventure and kayaking events.

  6. Our Team Chris Martin – Race Director – is an ex-international oarsman who medalled at six consecutive World Championships before rowing across the Atlantic solo and then the North Pacific in a pair receiving a Guinness World Record. He co-founded the Association of Ocean Rowers and has been providing support to ocean rowing crews since 2006. Roz Savage MBE – Race Consultant - holds four Guinness World Records for ocean rowing, including first woman to row solo across the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. In 2010 she was named Adventurer of the Year by National Geographic and has also been listed amongst the Top Twenty Great British Adventurers by the Daily Telegraph.
