Employers’ thoughts on employability:- UK Commission for Employment and Skills comparison of 20 published definitions; common factors:- * personal communication skills* using numbers, words and technology* team-working* customer care* having a positive approach* ready to participate* accepting of new ideas* accepting of constructive criticism Recruitment company, Reed, surveyed 800 companies to find their key staff qualities:* honesty and trustworthiness,* commitment,* adaptability,* accountability; 1212 of 1263 employers agreed that the desired mindset was preferable to possessing the complete skill-set. Students’ thoughts on employability:- CBI-UUK nationwide survey: 35% of students would have taken stand-alone employability programme had it been available34% of students would have taken up opportunity of an internship23% of students would have taken sandwich course had option been available21% of universities expected students to address employability themselves
