International – 2 Blasts in Iraq Wound 16 • Saturday February 5, 2011in Baghdad, Iraq • Both incidents happened in Salaheddin province • First explosion: car bomb inside a bus station • 11 people, most of them Shiite pilgrims were injured • Second incident: roadside bomb struck a bus carrying pilgrims • Sunni extremists have targeted Shiite pilgrims since 2003 • At each other's throats because they are different versions of Muslim

National –Plan to Slaughter Stray Yellowstone Bison Ignites Furor • Saturday February 5, 2011 in Salmon Idaho • Migrating buffalo from Yellowstone into Montana are killed to prevent them from infecting cattle with brucellosis • Plan to kill them was put on hold after a federal judge was asked to grant a stay of execution • Controversy because the state is sacrificing wildlife that Montana tourism would draw in millions to see • Hurting the economy of Montana • Wants to protect the cows, but wants to protect its historic ties to buffalo

Local –Alameda County Officials Ask Voters for School Tax Dollars • Wednesday February 2, 2011 in Oakland • School officials passed resolution that will let voters consider a tax on property owners to make up for budget cuts • Special election to vote on a tax that would cost $180 yearly for each property parcel • Used a $112 million budget that is down to $99 million • The tax would raise about $3 million annually
