  2. What’s wrong with the current LearnICU site? The current site does not reflect trends and user needs Web 2.0 technology has raised user expectations of how a website should function Social networking sites have impacted user expectations Hard to find information on the current site If users cannot find information they need quickly, they will move on

  3. What is Web 2.0? • Web 2.0 websites allow users to do more than just retrieve information. They can build on the interactive facilities of "Web 1.0" to provide "Network as platform" computing, allowing users to run software-applications entirely through a browser. Users can own the data on a Web 2.0 site and exercise control over that data. Users want to learn online • 2009 US Department of Education study revealed that on average, online students out performed those receiving face-to-face instruction • 1 in 6 higher education students are enrolled in online curriculum • Shrinking travel budgets necessitate online learning • Time constraints are forcing adult learners to look for educational offerings that meet their schedules • Delivery of more timely information in a more timely manner • Over twenty percent of all U.S. higher education students were taking at least one online course in the fall of 2007. The SCCM community is interested – what we know • SCCM on FaceBook has 2,965 fans as of December 14, 2009 • The AMA page has 1,782 as of December 14, 2009 • SCCM on Twitter has 300 followers • The American College of Chest Physicians has 96 • SCCM videos on YouTube have been viewed 3,776 times since creating a channel in April 2008.
