  1. Is it the right time to go for glaucoma treatment? Glaucoma is an eye disorder that is caused due to the upsurge of fluid pressure inside the eye. When glaucoma is not treated on time, it can cause severe damage to the optic nerve and pave way for permanent vision loss. Glaucoma is a common disorder. Open-angle glaucoma, one of the most popular types of glaucoma develops gradually, it often goes unnoticed. However, an eye specialist can successfully detect is signs at the time of an eye test. Although the permanent treatment for glaucoma hasn’t been established yet, undergoing a glaucoma treatment can stop and slow down the disease’s progress. What is glaucoma and how it can affect you? Glaucoma occurs due to the accumulation of pressure inside the eye- gradually, this extensive pressure can destruct the eye’s optic nerve. The eye’s front surface is made up of a clear and transparent fluid, which is referred to as aqueous humor. The fluid is helpful in keeping the eye nourished and in proper shape. The human eye is known to generate this fluid in good amounts and aqueous humor is drained away via the eye’s drainage system. A person diagnosed with glaucoma can feel this fluid draining away too gradually out of their eyes. In this case, the fluid gets accumulated inside the eye leading to a sudden rise in the eye’s pressure. When this pressure isn’t managed in the correct manner, it can destroy the eye’s optic nerve along with the other parts. It can lead to permanent loss of vision. Glaucoma has an adverse impact on both eyes. However, the signs in one eye are comparatively more severe than in the other one. What are the causes of glaucoma? What are the risks factors related to it? The major cause behind glaucoma hasn’t been found yet, however, experts claim that a few health disorders can aggravate the symptoms of glaucoma. If someone is diagnosed with primary glaucoma, the specific cause can be hard to identify. However, the underlying reason behind secondary glaucoma results from tumors, cataracts, inflammation, hypothyroidism, and diabetes. The risk factors associated with glaucoma are as follows:  Past history of eye surgery  Family history related to glaucoma  Health issues like diabetes  Eye injuries  Nearsightedness or myopia  Instilling corticosteroid medicines like eye drops  The rise in blood pressure

  2. Genetic disorders can give rise to glaucoma during childhood  Type of treatment available for glaucoma Glaucoma treatment in India works by enhancing the circulation of fluid and liquid flow to and from the eye. It also helps in the reduction of fluid generation or it can do both. Key takeaway Glaucoma is a type of eye disorder that can affect people with age. It often occurs due to the inability of the fluid to pass out and drain away from any eye. As a result, it can build up pressure within the eye. It can possess a great risk to your optic nerve and cause severe damage to it. Although the signs of glaucoma are not visible during the initial stages, it can pave way for vision loss down the line. To prevent these issues, you can go for regular eye tests.
