That's why it's important to have a team of professionals on hand to help those who are struggling with substance abuse. There are a number of substance abuse professionals in Georgia who can help those who are struggling. These professionals can provide treatment and support, as well as help to keep people safe. They can also provide guidance on how to overcome addiction and live a healthy life. 1. The law requires insurance companies to cover treatment for substance use disorders and removes barriers to treatment for Medicaid recipients. The state has also made strides in improving the quality of treatment. In 2017, the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities released new standards for addiction treatment providers. The standards, which are based on the nationally-recognized standards of the Joint Commission, are designed to ensure that treatment providers are delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.
