  1. Long Flight Survival: Water purification How could we get drinking water from the large amounts of wastewater that we generate on this mission?

  2. Where does the waste water come from? • Urine • Sweat • Breath from respiration • Coolants for the many heat generating machines • Transpiration from plants in the spacecraft’s garden

Your challenge is, using this lab apparatus, set up a water purification still which would give you, over enough time, water fit to drink. • Large beaker • Small beaker • 15 x 15 cm kitchen foil • 15x 15 cm black paper • 3 x strong rubber bands In pairs, design a suitable still. You have 15mins to produce a diagram showing how it could be set up
