  1. Indian origin fake migration agent arrested in Australia A woman of Indian origin named 'Shamna Singh' has been arrested in Australia while trying to leave for India. She has been accused of duping many international students on the pretext of getting the PR and work visas. Ms. Singh presented herself as a registered migration agent and her business in Australia was deregistered in April 2017. As per SBS News, at least 2 foreign students have filed a complaint against her to the police. The arrest of Ms. Singh has been confirmed by the Victoria Police. The arrest took place on January 29, 2019. She has been charged under the following: • False representation as registered migration agent • Charging fee for representation as a migration agent • Acquisition of property by fraud Ms. Singh however is out on bail but she has to appear at the Magistrate's Court in Melbourne on 17th April. She is also known by the name of 'Marleen Charan'. One of the applicants Chathurika Dissanayaka had filed a police complaint against Ms Singh in December 2017 accusing her of falsely promising PR visa. She was a foreign student in Australia and has presently returned to her home country.
