CRC Research Skills Workshop - REDCap Janey Wang September 24, 2010
Agenda • New features in version 3.4.0 and 3.4.1 • Interesting use case – TRENTAL and TRENTAL Queries • Basics on how to set up a new REDCap database (for new REDCap users) • Preview of version 4.0 (if time allows) • Q&A
REDCap Version 3.4.0 • NEW FEATURES: Simultaneous user detection/prevention on data entry forms when on same record/event/form as another user (but allows simultaneous viewing for super users) • Mobile device data entry • Data entry forms formatted especially for mobile devices (works best on Android, iPhone, iPod) • All features of data entry forms are function, with the exception of Locking/E-signature feature, which is partially functional (can only be [un]locked/e-signed from Full Site view) • Better usability on Apple iPad (scrolling only worked previously if used two-finger slide, now works with single-finger slide) • New “Check for Identifiers” module • Provides suggestions for fields that might need to be tagged as Identifiers • Keywords are customizable per site (via the Control Center->System Config page) • Update to REDCap Plot Service (RPS) – requires that you download the new version of RPS (see wiki page), which was updated recently. • New expanded stats report as PDF export • Descriptive Stats now shows Q1 and Q3 • API • New metadata export • New data export option (“rawOrLabel”) to export raw data or labels (or both) for the options of multiple choice fields
REDCap Version 3.4.1 • NEW FEATURES: New optional security feature that temporarily disables a user’s account if user has X failed login attempts within a Y-minute period, in which the X and Y values are configurable in Control Center->System Config. • Abstracted the default pre-filled metadata for new projects created so that it may be easily tweaked to create a site’s own default metadata for new projects. To do this, edit the file 'prefill_metadata.php', which must be done for each version of REDCap.
