  2. Things to cover this evening • Travel arrangements • The accommodation • Skiing and clothing • Passports/ EHIC, Medical Issues etc.

  3. Where is Andalo? (900 miles)

  4. Travel Arrangements • Friday 14/2/2014: Come to school in non-school uniform, bring ONE MEDIUM SIZED CASE to the Hall between 8 and 8:50. Leave about 12:30 (although exact time is yet to be confirmed). Hand luggage can be taken to lessons. • Saturday 15/2/14: Arrive at the resort • Ski Sunday to Friday (6 days) • Friday 21/2/2014: Leave Andalo about 7pm • Saturday 22/2/2014: Arrive Oaklands about 3pm (final time to be confirmed)

For the Journey What to Wear • Loose, Warm Clothing • Ski Jacket • Sensible, sturdy, flat Footwear What to Take • Snacks • MP3 Player / Games • Travel Sickness Pills (if required – see Mr. Tindal if you want to discus this further) • Travel Cushion • Money for meal on the ferry • But do please remember the following: • Your hand luggage is to be placed under seat- so keep it small

  9. Skiing at Andalo: Be prepared!

Kit list: Page 1 of 2 • Hat: Tight fitting; woollen; capable of being pulled well over the head (however, you ski with a helmet, so this is perhaps not as important as it once was) • Sunglasses or goggles:Protection for the eyes from sun and snow glare. Should be splinter proof • Cream for face and lips: Protect the skin and lips from sunburn and chapping. Use several times a day. • Anorak/ski jacket: Waterproof and windproof, preferably with high collar and hood; close fitting at the neck, cuffs and hips. Must overlap ski pants. • Gloves: Essential wear; should not be too tight. Cuffs snug to wrist.

  11. Kit list: Page 2 of 2 • Salopettes/Trousers:Should be waterproof. Design should prevent snow going into boots and keep midriff warm. • Boots:Special boots are provided. These seem heavy at first but must support your ankles well. • Skis and poles:Safety bindings attach skis to boots. These are provided. • Underneath (with several changes): • Socks: two pairs, loop stitched. • Tights or long thermal underpants. • Cotton polo neck shirt/T shirts. • Sweaters: two, thin sweaters.

  14. Ski Jacket • Warm and Waterproof • Close-fitting at: • Neck • Cuffs • Hips • This Jacket has a hood All safely gathered in! The jacket allows you to ‘seal’ your wrists and waist against the cold and the snow

  15. These must be waterproof, prevent snow getting into boots and keep your midriff warm Salopettes Ski Trousers

  16. A Warm Woollen Hat (with ear flaps) Helmet (supplied) Balaclava Hat

  17. These should not be too tight. The cuffs must be snug to the wrist • Students will not be allowed on the slopes without gloves

  18. Skis and Ski Poles These have safety bindings that release you from the ski if (when) you fall over!

  19. A typical day… • A typical day will be as follows: • Rise and shine! Tidy your room, then Breakfast • Room/Equipment/Clothing Check (Teachers will make sure that all members of their group are prepared for the day. (Students will not be allowed out without hats, gloves, ski-pass etc). • Transfer to slopes area and check-in for skiing lessons • Skiing Lessons - 2 hours, followed by lunch and a further 2 hours of lessons in the afternoon • Return to hotel and dinner • Evening activities • Time for bed! All students to be in their rooms and lights out by 10.00 pm
