  1. EXTRACARBON ON-DEMAND-KABADIWALA

  2. WHY EXTRACARBON STARTED? • Given the size of our country and its population, waste management is a major issue in India. • While, Swacch Bharat Abhiyan is working towards garbage disposal, and NexusNovus is opening up the idea of waste management in the country. • Entering this fray in the recent years is EXTRACARBON.

  3. FOUNDERS OF EXTRACARBON • ExtraCarbon is a waste management company found by two family friends Gaurav joshi and Anant avinash in 2013. • The inspiration came from the UK’s resource management practices through waste management. • They are currently working with a team of 28 people.

  4. WHAT IS EXTRACARBON ABOUT? • The founders call the garbage and waste pickers as Green Super Heroes team and are trying to solve three basic problems with them. • From the ecosystem point of view, it is solving the problems of collection, optimisation and scalability. • Collection - by bringing the consumers and waste pickers on a single platform. • Optimisation - majority of kabadiwalas don’t have enough money to buy everything.-ExtraCarbon optimised their Green Super Heroes team by providing more deals and greater sale value with them.

  5. Scalability -to solve the scalability issue, they introduced reward points called Jhoomley. The users can opt for payment in cash or points. These points can be further used to top-up their mobile phones or DTH, pay electricity bills, buy products and groceries, or get Paytm credits. • ExtraCarbon collection centres- recycling & reusable. • They have enhanced user experience by introducing call centres, and taking waste pick-up requests through electronic media like WhatsApp, SMS messages, phone calls, emails, and websites.

  6. WHEN DID IT START? • ExtraCarbon was launched on 26th June, 2013 by Gaurav and Anant when they saw the need for a place where the local community within a city could come together and take everyday actions to choose a right kind of future for them. • They realised India cannot achieve Swach Bharat goals without empowering ragpickers & kabadiwala’s.

  7. BIRTH PLACE • Extracarbon was first started in Gurgaon in 2013 • presently operational in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Ludhiana, Patiala and Lucknow. • they are planning to have it in 20 more cities by the end of this year.

  8. Income and profit • They have over 21,000 users and they are handling over 100 pickups on a daily basis. • Their last year’s revenue amounted Rs 1.71 Crores with a profit of Rs 2.21 Lakhs before tax. • To date, the founders have raised INR 2 Crore funding from two angel investors Jaarvis Acceleratorand BCCL.

  9. Future scope • ExtraCarbon plans to achieve a revenue target of INR 6 Crores by the next financial year. • It aims to increase its daily pickup number to 500 before Diwali this year. • They would like to introduce an app for location based services where customers can find the nearest green super hero.

  10. conclusion The ultimate goal of EXTRACARBON is to become end-to-end platform to reduce waste and carbon footprints.
