Identify all phrases. Then, identify all parts of speech: “In central Indiana lived her second and third cousins.”

  8. Chapter 14 Background Dill returns. He has a father now, but no is no better loved. Growing internal tension within the family. Atticus is worried about the trial. When Atticus is worried that tells us that there is real cause for worry.

Connecting ch. 15 (summarize 3 important facts) • Key chapter that juxtaposes two very different mob scenes, both at night, both pitting unarmed Atticus against unreasoning groups of citizens. • After the first confrontation, Atticus reminds Jem that these are friends. After the second, we see that Atticus knows he has truly dangerous enemies as well. • Role of Mr. Cunningham and Walter Cunningham have great importance.

  10. Chapter 16 background This chapter is about “Us and Them.” This is seen when Aunt Alexandra asks Atticus not to speak about prejudice in front of “them”—black people. Atticus again models putting himself in someone else’s shoes. He says Mr. Cunningham is basically a good man, just with some “blind spots”. Dolphus Raymond Lives with “them”. Has created “mixed children”. is that he has muddied the dividing lines by choosing to live with “them.” Trial begins.

It must have 5 paragraphs (1 intro, 3 body paragraphs, 1 conclusion). • Use the essay organization discussed in class. • About 2 pages long, typed and double-spaced.
