The Golden Ferrups Mission: The Golden Ferrupsis a product management competition designed to promote new product innovation, cross-regional collaboration, and bring new market opportunities to the forefront in the <20kVA market Vision: The Golden Ferrups will be successful when it sparks collaboration across teams, engages PMs to think about the future and is held at least twice a year

  3. The Competition • Ideas and Designs must be related to one or more category: • Single Phase UPS category • SMDC category • Sky’s-the-limit category • NO UPS ALLOWED category • Services category • Submissions can be • New product designs (eg: PDUPS) • Improvement on components / functions within an existing product line (eg: talking UPS) • Completely new ideas

  4. The Rules Light hearted rules that encourage disruptive ideas and innovation without fear of being shot down • Encourage exploring every idea – no idea is too simple • Must answer the questions: Do we have a market? What problem does it solve? • Must present the idea to the team • Ideally at the PLM meetings each time • Teams can work on ideas on the run-up to the meetings • Judged based on overall merit and to encourage further ideas, rather than purely business potential • Cross-boarder teams and Cross-functional teams get extra credit

The Prize The Golden Ferrups Award For the business: • Helping to nurture our innovation culture • Encouraging cross-boarder collaboration • Ultimately: A long-lasting, “industry leading” technology that has no competitor For the team: • A Token for each team member for the winning idea each year • Something meaningful to give some motivation • E.g. A weekend away with their partner, iPadetc
