Practicums/Internships • Each student is responsible for finding his/her own job • Instructor and Careers Services will help • All practicums/internships must be approved by the instructor • Students must attend an information meeting before they can register
Practicums/Internships • Practicums can be either full-time or part-time • Internships MUST be full-time • Min 10 weeks @ 40 hours/week • Practicums • Minimums (320 hours total) • 8 weeks @ 40 hours per week • 12 weeks @ 26 – 36 hours/wk • 16 weeks @ 20 hours/wk
Practicums/Internships • Internships/practicums must be completed with the same employer • You may do different jobs with the same employer • If you switch employers, you must begin the internship/ practicum from week 1
Practicums/Internships • Vacations • Can you take a vacation during the internship/practicum? • Yes, as long as it is approved by your supervisor and you let me know when you will be gone. • Your reports will still cover 80+ hours. If the vacation is in the middle of the report period, that is OK just move the report period back.
Practicums/Internships • When you begin your job, you must negotiate objectives with your supervisor using the following form. The supervisor must sign the form.
Practicums/Internships • Must provide the instructor and career services with a valid address, phone number and email address using the following form.
Practicums/Internships • The ORIGINALS (not photo-copies) of the objectives and the address/housing report forms must be sent to the instructor and arrive no later than the first report. • Career Services gets photocopies of both forms • Addresses are in the syllabus
Reports • Every two weeks for full-time • Either internship or practicum • Every three weeks for the 12 week practicum • Every four weeks for the 16 week practicum • You must specify up front which cycle you will be on • Once you decide, you can’t switch
Reports • Two full page minimum for the practicum • Three full pages minimum for the internship

Practicums/Internships • When are reports due? • Reports cover weeks beginning on a Sunday and ending on a Saturday – just like the typical American calendar • Reports are due no later than midnight on the Thursday following the end or the report period
Final Reports • Final Report • Report #5 for the practicum • Report #6 for the internship • Practicum – minimum of three pages – see the syllabus • Internship – minimum of five pages – see the syllabus
Final Reports • Final reports are due no later than two weeks following the due date for the last report • This is for everyone regardless being full-time or part-time
Reports • All reports are to be emailed to my WKU account as indicated on the syllabus • Do not hand-carry, mail, or fax your reports – email only. • The instructor is to receive all reports • Career Services receives the final report only
Format for the Reports • All reports must have a cover page • Your name • Where you work • The report number • The week number with dates • The number of hours worked • The report due date

Format for the Reports • All reports must be: • Double-spaced • 11 point Arial font nottimes roman • 1-inch margins on all sides • Word 97 & 2003 defaults to 1.25 so you must adjust the margins to 1-inch
Practicums/Internships • The Originals of the following documents must be received by the instructor no later than the final report • Data Report for CO-OP/Intern Experience (your evaluation of the internship/practicum) • Employer Evaluation of the CO-OP/Intern Student • Career Services gets copies
