    1. Indian Mills Historical Society Red Mens Hall Presented by: Mary Anne and Joseph Reinhart September 18, 2006

Brief History 1876 - 1881 Centennial Baptist Church 1892 1923 Edgepillock Hall - Tribe #168 Improved Order of Red Men NJ used the building for their meetings and ceremonies, then it became the gathering place for the entire township, with local elections and township committee meetings. 20th century became Red Mens Hall - the hall then served as a social gathering place that conducted dances with music by live musicians.

    3. History Continued July 20, 1964 Lewis Shrider Jr., purchased the hall from Edgepillock Tribe #168 Improved Order of the Red Men. 1970s the Schauman family purchased the building and extensively remodeled it then converted it into a grocery store. 1997 2000 the MacDonald family purchased the property then converted it into a nursery school. 2000 2006 the property is currently being used as a residence.

Proposed Usage for Main Building The members of the Indian Mills Historical Society envisions this property as a Living Museum- displaying and storing all the historical artifacts and memorabilia and once again become the central point and gathering place for township groups and organizations meetings and events i.e., Historical Society Senior Citizens Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts IMAA

    9. Proposed Usage for the Garages/Storage Building The township currently does not have enough garage space to accommodate township equipment i.e., lawn mowers, plows, tree trimmers, etc., this building could provide the space needed for this equipment.

    10. Finance and Funding Shamong Township purchase the building. Open Space, Recreation & Historical Tax Fund. Historical Society Conduct Fundraisers. In-Kind Donations labor, equipment, supplies etc. Grants apply for County, State and Federal Grants. Solicit Area Businesses for donations.

    11. Property$ Value Propertys Value - In order to proceed with our attempt to purchase this property, we need to determine the value of this property. Appraisal Mr. Mac Donald has authorized the Indian Mills Historical Society to engage a professional appraiser of their choice to gain access to his property to conduct an appraisal. Appraiser The Indian Mills Historical Society will hire and pay for the appraisers services.
