National Digital Data Archives (NDA) • „The NDA is the nation's digital datastore.” • „The NDA is a new archive for a knowledge-based society and the digital era that makes Hungary's national cultural assets available in a digital form for a wide range of users and by utilising the new features of the network medium it creates added value at service level.” • State initiative with an emphasis on • Openness • Self-organization and cooperation

  7. Persistent identifiers • Persistent identifier solution is needed for the following types of objects: • Services • Digital content objects • (metadata records?) • Persons • Organizations • Locations • (geographic names may change in time) • Events • Thesaurus items

  8. Requirements for persistent identifiers • Can handle high volume of identifiers (millions of ids) • Based on open standard • Easy to integrate with OAI infrastructure • Contains information on • type of identified object • containment relation? • date of id creation?
