Comparative East Asian Studies Programme: Hong Kong, Japan, and Korea Collaboration

Join the Comparative East Asian Studies Programme, a unique collaboration between HKU, Keio University (Japan), and Yonsei University (Korea). Students will explore courses in comparative East Asian studies and social sciences, all instructed in English. The program starts at Keio, moves to Yonsei, and concludes at HKU. Participants must be full-time undergraduates with a CGPA of 3.0 or above and can apply for scholarships. Living expenses while abroad are the student's responsibility.   1. Three-Campus Comparative East Asian Studies Programme • collaborates with Keio University (Japan) and Yonsei University (Korea) • starts at Keio University  Yonsei University  HKU • students are encouraged to take courses related to comparative East Asian studies and broad social sciences • language of instruction: English • elective courses can be chosen from different disciplines • each university offers a compulsory course • the credits from compulsory courses taken at Keio University and Yonsei University must be transferred back to HKU • HKU offers the course “Political Economy of Global Asia” and a 4-week summer internship • quota is up to 5 HKU second-year students (with good academic performance)

  2. General Requirements • must be full-time undergraduate students of our Faculty with good academic standing (CGPA of 3.0 or above) • pay usual tuition fee to HKU, but students are responsible for their own living expenses at Keio and Yonsei • Keio and Yonsei will assist in finding accommodation

  3. Important Notes • students must apply for credit transfer • credits obtained during exchange studies will be converted to HKU credits but the grades will not be counted towards your HKU GPA • scholarships for deserving students are available • Application: December 2012 (Pay attention to announcement via HKU Email) http://www.socsc.hku.hk/3campus/
