  1. 08 Jan 2013 一 Extra Credit Bell Ringer • Copy this oversized tic-tac-toe board onto your paper. • This slide will change two minutes after the bell rings.

  2. You need to write out today’s seating chart on your paper.You will have five minutes to work alone on this extra credit bell ringer. If you break one of the following rules, I will put a red minus on your paper. A red minus means you lose one extra credit point.RULES 1. Shade in the space where a desk is flipped over. 2. For every desk with a student, write that person’s first name.3. For every empty desk, put an X in the space.4. Do not talk or communicate with any student in the room. Nickname is okay, too!

  3. Time is up!Turn in your paper to the teacher’s desk. It’s time to pick up your tests! You are being timed. Yesterday’s 50 states, 51 capitals test are on the front table. The timer will stop when everyone has yesterday’s test, everyone is sitting, and everyone is silent.

  4. Times by period Tuesday’s Times 1st period -> 2:00.7 2nd period -> 1:45.2 4th period -> 1:43.1 5th period -> 1:48.4 6th period -> 2:02.7

  5. Before we get back to states, let’s grade the extra credit. I am passing the papers back. If you get your own, pass it to someone else. As I call names, check to see if the paper has the right names or nicknames. FOR GRADING PURPOSES When I call the name of the person whose paper you just graded, tell me how many that person got RIGHT. This is a regular class work grade with extra credit for those who do well.

  6. Welcome to FL! TODAY WE WILL apply logic to your map of the states and capitals to identify the postal codes used by our mail service.

  8. 二 Postal Code Talk In 1963, the United States Postal Service introduced Zone Improvement Plan codes to speed up mail service. To make room on the envelope for the new ZIP codes, the USPS offered two letter abbreviated codes for every state. This was confusing for people at first since we have eight states that start with M and eight states that start with N. I don’t think you will be confused. In fact, your real test grade depends on it. • In 1963, USPS (who is that?)
