  1. Accredited Doctoral Program in Applied Mathematics Mila Stojaković, Ilija KovačevićFaculty of Engineering REFORMS OF HIGHER EDUCATION DOCTORAL PROGRAMS DOCTORAL PROGRAM IN APPLIED MATHEMATICS

  2. Since the basic studies lasted 5 years in the previous program, it was not difficult rearrange that program into the new Bachelor + Master 5 years program. Magisterium + PhD Thesis was transformed in the similar manner into doctoral studies. Old New PhD Magisterium - Master Basic

  3. DOCTORAL STUDIES – APLIED MATHEMATICS • Every Master of engineering, mathematics or computer science having average mark higher then 8 (=80%) can enroll to PhD studies. • To every student a tutor is assigned (one of professors involved in Doctoral program). • The student (advised by his tutor) chooses 6 subjects according to his interests. • That list of subjects has to be approved by the board of doctoral studies. • Four subjects are chosen from the Mathematical list and the rest of two subjects are chosen one from the list (I) and one from the list (II) of Applied Mathematics (Engineering)subjects.

  4. List of Mathematical Subjects Combinatorial Theory of Matrices Categorial Proof Theory Many-valued Logics Mathematical Foundations of Fuzzy Sets Computability Models Geometry Functional Programming Languages Random Processes Metaheuristics Computability and Complexity Operations Research Digital Geometry Partial Differential Equations Fuzzy Systems Graph Theory Formal and Programming Languages Clones of Operations , Positional Games, Numerical Solution of Differential Equations Applied Differential Geometry Combinatorics Semantics of Programming Languages Logic in Computer Science , Applied Algorithms , Statistics in Engineering Functional analysis I Functional Analysis II Applied Abstract Algebra , Numerical Analysis Statistics Nonlinear Equations and Application, Actuarial Mathematics, Image Processing 1 Optimization and Mathematical modeling Spectral Theory of Graphs Image Processing 2 Combinatorial and Geometric Algorithms, Processing Algebra, Differential Equations Knowledge Representation and Automated Reasoning Game Theory

  5. List of Applied Math. Subjects I • Selected Topics of Telecommunication and Signal processing • Selected Topics of Computer Science • Random Processes in Telecommunications • Selected Topics of Programming • Reliability in EES, • Decision and optimization, • Selected Topics of Mechanics, • Algorithms of digital signal processing, • Selected Topics of Analytical Mechanics, • Selected Topics of Modeling in Civil Engineering • Selected Topics of Computer Systems Architecture • Cryptology • Parallel programming

  6. List of Applied Math. Subjects II Selected Topics of Optimization Theory, Selected Topics Computer Communications No Smooth Mechanics and Optimization Logistic Systems, Optimization of Transportation, Chaos in Dynamical Systems, Mathematical Theory of Elastic Rods Selected Topics of Biomedicine, Multimedia Algorithms Algorithms of Digital Image Processing, Signal Processing in Medicine, Basic Principles of Environment Management, Selected Topics of Investing Management, Selected Topics of Automatic Control, Selected Topics of Artificial Intelligence, Selected Topics of Nonindustrial Robotics, Selected Topics of Industrial Robotics Methods and Models for Efficient Logistic System Digitalization of Cultural and Scientific Heritage Protection of Information and Information Systems Nonlinear Mechanics with Nenconservative Applied Analysis of Physical-Chemical Parameters Properties

  7. Some Rules • First three semesters consists of seven subjects – one obligatory (Scientific Methods) and six optional. • On doctoral program in applied mathematics we have a small number of students with different orientations and consequently tuition is not organized. • Students are given literature and they have periodical consultation with the corresponding lecturer. • Exam usually consists of three parts: written exam, oral exam and seminar paper. • The written part of the exam contains several problems. • The oral part of the exam is usually a discussion with the student.

  8. Entering exam • The entering exam for the Ph.D. thesis is organized at the beginning of the IV semester for the student who passed all 7 exams. • The replacement for the entering exam is the paper published in intetnational journal. • If the student does not pass entering exam, he can not continue the Doctoral studies, but he can enroll Academic specialistic studies. • The subjects in Academic specialistic studies are same as subjects in Doctoral studies only the entering exam and the Ph. D. thesis are not included.

  9. Ph.D. Thesis • The work on the thesis is supervised by the tutor. • Before the defense, the results of Doctoral thesis have to be accepted for publication in international journal. • After the defense of Doctoral thesis, student finishes the doctoral studies and gets the diploma and diploma supplement. • In diploma supplement all the data relevant for the student and his studies are included.
