The Grant Proposal Process – Simplified description • Identify and quantify the budget need • Research and identify potential funders. • Carefully read the application and what is required. • Make the case. Good writers, good eyes. • Provide good outcomes and solid data. • Prepare and attach the proposed budget. • Copies  Signatures  Submit  Wait  Award! SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL IS A TEAM PROCESS!

Got the award, now what? 10 keys to staying compliant: • Understand what the obligations are for the grant via the award letter and contract. • Write down all report deadlines. • Know how to complete a funder’s grant report. • Educate your staff. • Track all numbers – programmatic and financial (see sample)

  5. 10 keys to staying compliant: • Remember what is reasonable, allocable and allowable. • Complete the report carefully and submit on-time. • Keep good and open communications with your grant manager/monitor. • Keep an excellent filing system. • When in doubt, ask for help.
