Fatal Bench Accident Involving Drill Victims Marking New Hole at 28 Feet Upslope

A tragic accident occurred at a drill site where two victims were found under the rear of the drilling equipment following an impact. The victims were engaged in marking the next hole to be drilled. The incident involved a pickup truck that collided with the drill, resting against the cab with the door broken open, creating a hazardous situation. The victims were marking the next hole to be drilled. Outslope Rear of Truck The pickup truck came to rest against the drill cab with the door sprung open. The slope angle was 18.5% and was 136 feet from the crest of the hill to the drill. Twenty-nine (29) Feet Drill holes Approximate location of the pickup truck parked with the door open, lights on and the engine running.
