Mentoring – What Is It? • Mentoring assists veterans with the transition from the military to the civilian workforce through: • Providing help in preparing a resume • Giving interview tips • Translating military skills into civilian skills • Helping veterans network and build a group of civilian contacts • Advising a veteran during the job search • Sharing experience to help develop a career path for a veteran • Assisting in starting a small business and building a business plan www.acp-usa.org

Mentoring – Why Is it Important? • Job Search: • Mentoring provides a valuable inside look for a veteran transitioning into the civilian sector. • Mentoring provides a long-term perspective from someone who has spent a significant amount of time in the field. • Mentoring pulls veterans into a broader network, allowing them to make contacts in various sectors to assist with career exploration. www.acp-usa.org

Mentoring – Where Can I Find It? • American Corporate Partners – www.acp-usa.org • Veterans and transitioning service members are matched one-on-one with a corporate mentor for a free yearlong mentorship based on the veteran’s individual career goals. • Mentorships are available nationwide for anyone who has served since 2001. • ACP Facts: • 41 Corporations, 3 Universities, and 1 Major Hospital provide mentors • More than 1,600 Mentors and Protégés currently paired nationwide • More than 2,000 ACP Veteran Alumni have completed the program • ACP offers both Local and National Pairings (depending on geography) www.acp-usa.org

Support from ACP • Initial introduction of Mentor/Protégé • ACP staff monitors mentorships through email and phone call follow ups • Facilitate events in target cities • Career building workshops • Networking events • Community service events • Provide ongoing support throughout the mentorship • ACP’s website offers mentoring handbook, resources, suggested quarterly plan, and mentoring tips www.acp-usa.org

  6. Application Process 1. Apply Online ACP’s online application includes questions about your service, your career goals, and your hobbies. 2. Complete a Career Assessment Questionnaire This two-page questionnaire about your career goals will help you and your mentor get on the same page and set goals for the mentorship. 3. Phone Interview A 15-minute intake call with an ACP representative allows ACP to answer your questions, as well as to learn more about you in order to pair you optimally. • Learn more and apply today at www.acp-usa.org!
