  3. Italy → Basilicata Our region, Basilicata, is between the heel and the tip of this boot.

  4. Italy → Basilicata Basilicata is on two separate coasts: the rocky Tyrrhenian coast on the westside and the sandy Ionic coast on the eastside. It has also got two names: The second name is Lucania, that's why we are called Lucani.

  5. The region's economy is based on agriculture , animal -farming

  6. Economy ... and on the activities of small and medium enterprises: especially food industries ( such as oil mills, wineries, pasta factories).

  7. Economy ... On the other hand Basilicata is rich in hydrocarbons, particularly methane, in the Basento Valley, and oil, in Val d' Agri. Here there is the greatest oilfield of Europe (a production estimated in 104.000 barrels, up to 10% of the national requirement).

  8. Economy ... New job perspectives have come from FIAT car factory settled in Melfi in 1993.

  9. Magna Grecia Places of interest ... In Basilicata there are places and monuments that testify the richness of its history and the variety of peoples that lived here.

  11. Places of interest ... Maratea is on the Tyrrhenian coast. It is characterized by a beautiful sea and a fantastic statue of Saint Biagio similar to the statue in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. MARATEA

  22. Leonardo Da Vinci (!?!?!?) ... Do you know the latest news?? Recently,in a noble mansion in Basilicata , a self-portrait by Leonardo Da Vinci has been discovered. The painting is now on display in the museum of Vaglio Basilicata, a small village near Potenza.
