  2. Committee Goals • Increase instructional minutes from 63,461 to 64,800 for 2014-2015 school year and beyond • Teachers continue with current contract <440 mins per day • Current teacher mins: 440 Mon. – Wed. and 427 Thurs. – Fri.

  3. Bell Schedule Committee Meetings • November 13, 2013 • December 11, 2013 • February 12, 2014 • March 12, 2014 • April 1, 2014 • April 7, 2014 – Staff Meeting / Survey • April 8, 2014 • April 22, 2014

  4. Collected ALL Ideas – Nov. & Dec. • Advisory / Homeroom • Double Block • Adding minutes to each day • Mandatory SDL • Zero or Seventh period • Finals extended • No 10 minute break

  5. February Bell Schedule Meeting • Narrowed down to four ideas: • 1) changing optional SDL to mandatory SDL during the school day; • 2) adding minutes to every day to accommodate the additional minutes needed; • 3) double block week with 4 days of block days; • 4) adding an advisory or homeroom period during the week.  • Created 6 bell schedule proposals • Proposals discussed and ranked at department PLCs on February 28 & March 7

March & April Meetings • Discussed rankings and narrowed down to 3 schedules: • Mandatory SDL in school day • 2 different schedules with advisory included • Teachers discuss mandatory SDL and advisory with their students and bring feedback to staff meeting • Committee proposed 3 schedules at April 7 Staff Meeting • Discussed what will these schedules look like for LBHS • Answered questions • April 8, committee designed a survey based on staff meeting feedback

  7. Survey Results • Passing period preference • 5 min = 35.5% (16) • 6 min = 64.44% (29) • Length of advisory period • 10-15 = 38.64% (17) • 16-20 = 61.36% (27) • Full support: • A = 8.11% (3) • B = 27.03% (10) • C = 37.84% (14) • Not yet = 27.03% (10)
