  2. What is Spearmint? Spearmint Essential Oil • Spearmint is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows up to 1 meter with widespread rhizomes. •  It bears serrated bright green aromatic leaves with pointed tips and pink or white flowers. • It is a species of mint with the botanical name MenthaSpicata. • It is also known as garden mint, mackerel mint, common mint, and lamb mint. • It is indigenous to Southern Asia and Europe but now cultivated extensively in other parts of the world. • Its leaves are used to flavor teas and other beverages. • The plant is a source for two aromatic flavourful products - spearmint essential oil and spearmint floral water. • A clear thin essential oil is obtained from the floral tops and leaves of the plant through a steam distillation process by spearmint essential oil manufacturers.  • It emits a fresh minty aroma with fruity undertones.  • The intensity of aroma is less than that of peppermint essential oil.  • The aroma offers top fragrance notes to the end products with initial medium strength.  • The oil contains carvone compounds in high amounts besides limonene, dihydrochalcone, and 1.8 cineole compounds. They give it a distinct scent and wellness properties. •  It contains minimal amounts of menthol and menthone.
