  1. Modern Indian Painters The top tier of Indian painters comprises of the modernists. They were initially a part of the Progressive Artists’ Group in the country. Even though the group did not last for a long time, they provided the country with colonial art landscape to remember . M.F. Husain and K.H.   2. Pioneers of Modern Indian Art Jamini Roy was an honorary Indian painter who was awarded the PadmaBhushan in the year 1955.
