  2. Mean Mean: Average • First, order the numbers from least to greatest. • Next, add the numbers in the data set. • Then, divide the sum by the number of numbers in the set.

  3. 5, 7, 3, 5, 5 • 3, 5, 5, 5, 7 • 3 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 7 = 25 • 25 / 5 = 5 Mean = 5

  4. Median • Median: Middle number when numbers are ordered from least to greatest. • First, put numbers in order from least to greatest. • Then, cross out the end numbers until you get to the middle. • If there are two middle numbers, add them and divide by 2 to find the average.

  5. 5, 7, 3, 5, 5 • 3, 5, 5, 5, 7 • 3, 5, 5, 5, 7 • 3, 5, 5, 5, 7 Median = 5

  6. Mode Mode : Number that appears the MOST. • First, put the numbers in order from least to greatest. • Then, find the number that appears the most often.

  7. 5, 7, 3, 5, 5 • 3, 5, 5, 5, 7 • 5 appears three times Mode = 5

  8. Range Range: Difference between the biggest and smallest number. *Subtract smallest from the biggest number in a data set. • First, put the numbers in order from least to greatest. • Then, take the biggest number and minus the smallest number.

  9. 5, 7, 3, 5, 5 • 3, 5, 5, 5, 7 • 7 – 3 = 4 Range = 4
