  4. Why?! - It is a once and a lifetime experience to have an extended time outside the country - I would be able to experience the cultures of various countries especially ones where our ancestors descended from - It would break up the monotony of everyday college life and force me to delve into new experiences and try new things

  5. Why?! (continued) -Just like you spent time in Palau, I believe it would be a beneficial experience and teach me life lessons that a classroom can’t teach. - Part of the program includes taking an Italian course which I believe will be something to put on my resume and would be a good skill to know since Italian has a lot of the same patterns as other languages. I have talked to many of my Professors, Peers and recent graduates about Abroad and all who have went said it was the best thing about college and those who didn’t go, mentioned it was their biggest regret.

  6. Why?! (continued) -I have done my research and talked to many professors and councilors at Temple and they agree that Employers take into account the benefits of Abroad. "The No. 1 thing we think studying abroad provides (students) is flexibility and problem solving,“- Sarah Schlachter Global Education Office "When an employer sees (study abroad) on a resume, that person comes across as adaptable. Just the fact that you're living in a situation where so many of the rules that normally apply don't, that can be a pretty big switch,“ –Brooke Meisner, Career Coach at Vanderbilt

  7. Why?! (continued) I can develop real competitive advantages over students who never ventured Abroad to study such as: -Improved foreign language skills. -A more cosmopolitan, international perspective. -Greater tolerance for other opinions. -Ability to think more originally and to see more than one perspective on an issue. -Greater self-reliance and self-confidence. -More comfort with complex situations, the ability to better cope with ambiguous information, and greater flexibility.

  8. Why?! (continued) I have found that there are some Career benefits as well International experience benefits those seeking careers in almost any field. Employers recognize skills that are acquired overseas. Study abroad identifies you as informed, Confident, Self-sufficient and able to learn quickly and adapt to changing conditions. After completion of study abroad I should be able to say I am more independent, responsible, organized and innovative.

  9. Conclusion - In conclusion I hope you take into consideration all of the points that I have made. - I hope you realize that I have put a lot of time into making this presentation professional. I wanted to make my point by doing real research and gathering facts to support my side. - I hope this presentation will allow you to take into account my argument and you won’t simply brush off all this work and think I made this as a joke or it was done childishly. I hope you will take this seriously. At this point are there any questions you have for me?
