  1. ALL ABOUT HOTEL STAR RATINGS

  2. • When booking accommodations for a trip, travellers have a lot of options. An easy way to determine whether or not a hotel has the features you're looking for is by checking its star rating. • These ratings can tell you a lot about the quality and amenities of the hotel. But before judging the hotel solely on its stars, get to know a bit more about what those stars mean and whether or not they are even trustworthy.

  3. • Forbes Travel Guide originally started the star-rating system in the ‘50s. Since then it has been done by many, unofficially by various travel guides and booking sites, officially by several authorized organizations. • The more it’s reviewed by honest reviewers the more reliable the rating is.

  4. • Different countries have different rating systems. What is considered as five stars in one country can be considered four stars in another country. • The star rating is not a universal system, some countries even have up to 7-stars rating system, so it’s important to look at other criteria as well while selecting the best hotel for you.

  5. Criteria Used To Rate A Hotel • In general, the star-rating system is somewhat watered-down and each system uses a different set of criteria to evaluate and rate the hotels. The key features like amenities, quality of the service, location, and timings play a major while evaluating the hotel's star rating. • This is why you will see different systems in different countries, as something simple as a room with a heating system can be considered as a luxury for guests. However, it may, many companies and rating programs globally use the following criteria described in detail.

  6. One-Star Hotel • A hotel room with basic necessities like a bed and side table can be considered as a one-star hotel. Bathrooms are likely to be shared with other people on your floor, and any kinds of refreshments can be found in the common dining area or vending machine. • A one-star hotel typically doesn’t offer many facilities, and the reception desk won’t open for 24 hours. Television, Free Wifi, and daily housekeeping services are usually not found in these kinds of hotels.

  7. Two-Star Hotel • Though it’s a sure upgrade from the one-star hotel, a two-star hotel doesn’t offer much too. The rooms probably can have a closet with hangers, telephones, and TV, but they are usually quite old. • You may have in-room toiletry facilities, but you certainly cannot expect a big hot tub with hot water. There will not be many amenities to enjoy too.

  8. Three-Star Hotel • A three-star hotel lays middle between not-so-cheap and not-so-fancy. The hotel provides comfy rooms for their guest to feel relaxed without charging much. • You can usually find a restaurant and bars within the gates and a good room service to ease your stay. The rooms are usually larger with a good mattress and more furniture.

  9. Four-Star Hotel • Four-star hotels are extremely nice and comfortable. You can find the difference in the room service or in the food they serve. • The rooms are fancier and larger with a soft mattress, workstation, minibar, bathroom with tub, and modern television. They provide a quite lot of enjoyable amenities too.

  10. Five-Star Hotel • You can literally find all kinds of good amenities in a five-star hotel. It has luxurious spas, well-equipped gym, many continental foods, gigantic lobbies, and so on. • A typical room has a huge bed, an in-room bathroom with a 24/7 hot water facility, any-time room service. Most of the five-star hotels provide tennis courts, health clubs, beauty parlor, and entertainment sectors for kids to cover all the members of a family.
