A Fun Exercise… Look at your Career Fields of Interest Handout Pretend that you can choose a part-time job in each of these five businesses – you will be shown how & receive the same pay for each job – which would you like best? Check one job that you would prefer in each of the five businesses (#1-5 – check 1 in each). Add up your total number of A’s, B’s, C’s. Check out your preferred career fields of interest – are you an information, people, or things type person? Want to learn more about yourself? Take the CHOICES Interest Inventory at www.facts.org.

  26. Plan for your future • Volunteer for Community Service • Plan your coursework • Figure out your futuregoals (Check out www.facts.org ) • Get involved in sports and clubs at school

  27. Pass the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test to get that • Know that a PASSING score is: 1926 for reading and 1889 for math • Practice Sample Questions • Check it out on FCAT Explorer • Int. Reading (or ESOL Dev Lang) &/or Intensive Math class at SCHS or FCAT Prep online through FLVS DIPLOMA

PRACTICE GOOD STUDY HABITS! • Pay attention in class • Take notes • Read the textbook • Ask questions in class • Set aside a place to study • Do your homework • Turn in your class work • Review notes daily • Don’t wait to the night before to study for a test • Use a homework folder with your planner • Use your weekends to get ahead

  29. Don’t be afraid to ask for HELP • Ask your teachers if they can help you before or after school • Get math tutoring on Tuesdays/Thursdays after school in 22-206. Come prepared with questions! • Find a “study buddy” or join a study group • Talk with your counselor
