  2. So, how do you know what you need to graduate?

  3. 27 Academic Credits (18.50 core, 8.5 elective) .75 Attendance credit So, basically, your graduation requirements look like this:

  5. Of your 27 credits, 3 need to come from math. So…let’s navigate The math maze

  6. Math Progression • Math III can move to Pre-Calculus, CP Math, Math 1010, Math 1050 or AP Stats with B or better. • Algebra II can move to • CP Math * Pre-calculus or can move to AP Calculus, AP Stats, Math 1010 or Math 1050

  7. MATH ELECTIVES: Math Essentials Computer Programming A/B Accounting 1, 2 Mathematical Decision Making for Life

  8. Common Core Track Secondary Math II goes to Secondary Math III OR Common Core Elective (Mathematical Decision Making for Life)

  9. You also need 3 Sciences Biology, Biology Agriculture 2 Core: EarthScience Chemistry Physics with Tech.,Basic Physics or Physics ******************************* 1 Elective: Anatomy and Physiology Animal Science

  10. And of course ENGLISH: English 12 CP English 12 CP -compacted AP Literature WSU English 1010 (must qualify)

  16. Things to consider: AP Classes Concurrent Enrollment* (class fee…) Early college Applied Technology College (ATC) Magnet Classes WorkBased Learning Internships

  17. Keep in mind, that even though you may want an off campus class next year, you CANNOT actually sign up for them YET… That has to be done AFTER schedules are generated (we need to know what periods classes are offered, etc.)

  18. Bridge to Health Science Track BHST Program

  19. To help students focus on completing many of the prerequisites for the Health Science programs at WSU. Dental Hygiene Emergency Care and Rescue Health Information Management Practical Nursing Registered Nursing Medical Laboratory Sciences Respiratory Therapist Radiologic Sciences Pre-Med (There is not a pre-med major at any college/university. Students select from those listed above and then take the courses that medical schools require of undergraduates. Purpose of the BHST Program

  21. VERY IMPORTANT! Concurrent enrollment and early college classes begin your college transcript AND will affect your High School GPA!

  22. ACT/SAT College Entrance Exams All Juniors will take ACT test on March 4, 2014 *You can take it multiple times * Colleges take the best score *You’ll have time to retake it for a higher score

  23. If you want to take Math 1010 (Math 18) MATH 1050 (Math 23) OR English 1010, (19 reading and English) Need Act score to be placed Need to take december or february test to qualify for above classes.

New Classes for Next Year • Digital Business Applications– Explore Google Apps, Open Office as well as iCloud and cell phone technology and uses in business. • Exploring Computer Science– Will give credit for Computer Technology requirement for graduation. • Personal Finance– Will give credit for General Financial Literacy requirement for graduation. • Animal Science– Will give credit for 3rd year science or CTE • Biology Agricultural Science Technology– Will give Biology Science Credit, 3rd year science credit, or CTE credit • Math 1010– Will prepare students for college level math courses. Must have an 18 ACT score in mathematics. • Psychology 1010-- Will give elective high school credit. • Chemistry1010– Highs school science credit • Intro to Physical Therapy-- Elective Credits or CTE • Digital Media 1A, Digital Media 1B • Early Childhood Education II (Head Teacher) • Chinese III • AP Spanish VI • Advanced Health Science • Secondary Math III Honors • AP Statistics

  29. FAFSA • Free Application for Federal Student aid • Financial need based • Federal Grants, student loans, student work study • Parents/student income and assets taken into consideration • *Taxes should be completed first • Best to apply by priority deadlines, usually February 28th .

State Scholarships NewCentury * Graduate from high school with an Associates Degree * Scholarship is determined yearly, based on funding Regents Scholarship • 4 credits progressive math • 4 credits English • 3.5 credits social science • 2 credits same foreign language • Biology, Chemistry and Physics • Two different scholarships: • Base Award • No grade lower than a C • Take the ACT • Exemplary Award • No grade lower than a B • ACT of 26 • **Both scholarship amounts will be determined yearly, based on funding

  32. Early Graduation Centennial Scholarship $250.00 for each quarter you graduate early (tuition to Utah public college within one year after graduation)

  36. REALLY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!! Returning your COMPLETED REGISTRATION SHEETS:

  37. You will return your COMPLETED registration form to your LAKER TIME TEACHER on Thursday, December 5th

  38. And don’t worry… Your counselor will review your registration and then call you out of class to go over it with you one final time.
