Homelessness in all its forms is on the rise across the country • statutory acceptances are up 44% (09/10 to 15/16) • placements in temporary accommodation are up 52% (10/11 to 15/16) • use of bed and breakfast is up 250% since 2009 • rough sleeping is up132% since 2010 • Source: Crisis • …and new responsibilities (Homelessness Reduction Act) and funding challenges for LAs

How have we worked together with ON? • ON learning and info • Direct participation in commissioning process • Stakeholder workshops • Contribution to open consultation process • Working with people with lived experience • Views from ON Expert Citizens Group • Contribution of Beneficiary Ambassadors and Expert Citizens to stakeholder events • Developing citizen-led requirements

What are we doing differently? • Wider plan to tackle homelessness in Nottingham – in year and longer term: • Support and focus prevention • Increase supply of temporary accommodation • Increasing the security of settled accommodation • Winter measures to tackle rough sleeping • £100k fund to bolster support throughout winter 2016/17 • 48 extra beds provided through partnership with homelessness sector

  5. What are we doing differently? • More recognition of complex needs • Greater flexibility for introduction of Housing First approach • Relationships / Psychologically Informed Environments (PIES) • Focusing on what matters to people using services
