A Great Journey. In1892-1970 many Immigrants were promised a better life in America but promises were broken. Irelands famine. Ireland was changed forever when it was struck by a great famine. It lasted from 1894-1899. To America !.

  1. A Great Journey In1892-1970 many Immigrants were promised a better life in America but promises were broken.

  2. Irelands famine • Ireland was changed forever when it was struck by a great famine. It lasted from 1894-1899.

  3. To America ! • To get to America, immigrants had to take small and crowded cargo ships . It was torture for them.

  4. Ellis Island • Once an immigrant got through the boat ride, they entered a place called Ellis Island.

  5. The many Test at Ellis Island • Once at Ellis Island, immigrants had to go through many tests.

  6. The Six Second med. test • One test at Ellis Island was the feared six second medical test. Immigrants had to climb a series of stairs, if a doctor noticed something wrong they would be sent back to their home land.

  7. America is Here!!! • Finally, America! Now, an immigrant would stay at a very crowded apartment called a Tenement.

  8. Bombs are dropping to America • BOOM!!! BANG!!! World war two has started in Japan. Many people immigrate to America some move just to get a job.

  9. To the boats and to America • With bombs dropping hundreds pile in boats hoping to make to America.

  10. Angel Island • Once the immigrants made the boat ride they arrived at a place called Angel Island. Almost the same as Ellis Island the difference was that the men were separated from the ladies.

  11. Poetry at Angel island • Many immigrants were sad and depressed so, they wrote poetry on the walls.

  12. Rail road • An immigrants' job might be working on the rail road but many problems occurred.

  13. Thank you • Thanks to immigrants we wouldn't have our freedom. They made so many sacrifices for are country. • 
