Labour Learnership and Internship Provincial Implementation Report • From 2097 unemployed learners trained 1994 were trained through Learnership and 103 through Internship programmes. • Although Eastern Cape (EC), Northern Cape (NC) and North West (NW) reflects 0% on the graph, the Learnership programmes for 2004/05 continued in the 2005/06 financial year: • 300 Learners in EC • 180 Learners in NC • 108 Learners in NW SETA Report to Select Committee on Labour and Public Enterprises

Labour Future Plans for the Isett Seta • To implement Learnership and Internship programmes in under represented provinces in partnership with provincial governments. • To further train and up-skill unplaced learners. • To secure experiential training and placement opportunities for unemployed graduates. • To date 408 graduates trained and placed at a total cost of R 18, 36m. • To further train 3000 graduates on the internship programmes in the next 18 months as part of the JIPSA programme. • To procure R 85m from the NSF to achieve set objectives. Labour Future Plans • Forge partnerships with provincial governments when implementing ICT Learnership and Internship programmes. • Continued support to SMME training providers. • Encourage companies to enroll at least 15% white learners of Learnerships.
