  1. October TAKS Exit Test Administrator Training Date, 2013

  2. Test Administrations There is only one TAKS Exit test administration this October: • any student that is currently enrolled in grades 11 or 12 that will graduate under TAKS. • includes students that have not previously passed one of more Exit test required for graduation.

  3. Manuals 2013 DCCM, combined TAKS DCCM and TA manual, ACCM from 2010-2011, and all other TEA associated testing reference manuals This is a technology free training zone. Please silence your cell phones. Note taking only on iPads or computers. Thank you.

  4. NOTICE This training does not replace your requirement to read and follow all appropriate manuals associated with state testing. READ THE MANUALS!

  5. Calendar of Events See page O-18 of the 2013 DCCM Dates of test: • ELA – October 21 • Math – October 22 • Science – October 23 • Social Studies – October 24 • Reminder there are no make-up dates for this administration. Tests are only available on their scheduled date.

  6. Accommodations • By the book (note Use 2010-2011 ACCM) • Oral – (not allowed on TAKS or TAKS Accommodated ELA) must train separately for orals (see appendix C of DCCM/TA manual) • Used in classroom on a routine basis • Documentation – note IEP/IAPs

  7. Security • See page 5 of TAKS Manual • Account for all materials before, during and after testing – secure storage • Protect the content of the test • Oaths – trained • Oral – oath • Certified personnel only – no paraprofessionals • Principal – need a new one regardless if the principal signed on last year

  8. Security • All test must be administered in strict accordance with the manual • No person may view, reveal, copy, or discuss the contents of a test • Do not help a student with calculations, solving, or responding to a test item • Do not reveal or discuss student responses

  9. Security • Secure materials must be stored under lock and key with limited access. • Never leave secure materials unsecured. • Test administrators will check out secure testing materials on the morning of testing and will return them immediately after their room has completed testing.

  10. Security • While testing, there must be a trained test administrator present with students one-hundred percent of the time until students complete testing and submit their answer documents. • Remember there must be one administrator for every 30 students in a room. • If a lunch break is taken, a person trained in testing procedures, oath signed, must stay with the students at all times. Students must be kept in same group during lunch. Monitored during lunch to ensure they do not discuss the test.

  11. Security • No electronic devices by anyone • Collect cell phones prior to testing • Do not use your cell during testing • Late arrivals may be tested if time remains and you know that they have not had contact with another testing student • No copying of essays or short answers • Monitor students at all time

  12. What Is Active Monitoring? Watching students during testing. The focus of the teacher’s attention is on the students and not elsewhere. • Walking around to better observe what students are doing. (Are students; working on correct section of test, marking answers on the answer document, not cheating, not using cell phones, not talking or communicating with other students, etc.?)

  13. Incidents • See DCCM/TA (page 10) • Report – call CTC immediately • Penalties – see DCCM • Provide a typed, dated, and signed statement

  14. Incidents • Penalties • Restriction on certificate • Reprimand • Suspension of certificate • Revocation of certificate • Jail

  15. Answer Documents • Labels • If any of the following are incorrect name, date of birth, gender, or PEIMS – a new answer document must be submitted • Score codes for Exit Re-test • A is for Absent • X if the student’s ARD committee has determined and documented in the IEP that the student should not participate in the TAKS or TAKS Accommodated exit level re-test • P is for Previously met passing standards – (not used for prior “X”) • O is for other – you need permission to use this code • S is for score

  16. Test Taken Field • This must be marked for the test taken • Exit will only have test versions for TAKS or TAKS Accommodated, if not marked default is to TAKS

  17. Test version booklet number required. The test administrator is responsible for reminding student to bubble in their answers. This correction can only be done while the student is in the testing room. Test version and subject must be bubbled even for an “absent” coding. There must be four score codes filled in.

  18. One Test Booklet • For Exit students only use one test booklet for the multiple day tests unless they have different test versions during the week • Example: Student needs to re-test ELA and Social Studies. Student will be issued a booklet on Monday for the ELA test and then the same booklet must be used on Thursday for the SS test. Recommend that the AD is kept in the front of the booklet. • Example: Student take TAKS Accommodated math but all other subjects are TAKS, this student will have two test booklets during the week but only one answer document.

  19. Accommodations • ACCM 2010-2011 • Accommodations on ADs are only marked if used during the test • Do not mark “P” and “OA” if an oral is given. Mark “OA” not the “P” for placement.
