  1. Tips for Best Blogging

  2. So you think you’d like to try blogging? Blogs are a great way to share information about your business, help connect with customers, and educate your customers about your products. As an existing small business, blogging can help you communicate with your customers, expand your customer base and help you find new customers, as well as retain existing customers.

  3. What do you want to write about? Here’s a start:• store promotions and sale specials, • community activities, • car care and maintenance tips, • frequently asked questions, • even a bit about the customer who brought in her dog would be welcome.

  4. What do you want to write about? Frequency is less important than consistency. Consistently updating content is key. If that's once a week, that's once per week. If it’s once every two weeks, that’s fine, too. Keep them short: 500 words is optimal, and it's easier for you to keep up with it if you don't feel you're creating a mini-novella each week. Longer or shorter is okay too.

  5. What do you want to write about? Keeping "fresh" content is great for your site's SEO. Topic doesn't matter so much as the keywords. You always want to make sure there are relevant keywords in your titles, headings, and early on in posts if you're blogging for SEO. Examples:http://www.iseecarpeople.blogspot.com/http://www.autoaidrescue.com/news/

  6. What is SEO? SEO is how your customers find you. According to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_optimization) Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's "natural" or un-paid ("organic") search results. Always be sure there are relevant keywords in your titles, headings, and in the first and last few sentences of your posts if you're blogging for SEO.

  7. How do you decide what is relevant for SEO? Using natural language, talk about your business, use your business name, describe what you do, and the services you offer. If there are customers looking for those services, Google will help them find you. Don't try to "game" the system by stuffing keywords into your articles: Google will know! Use your spellchecker. Typos turn customers off.

  8. Tools for the Blogger Wordpress or Blogger are fine for the novice blogger and offer a variety of templates to help you design how it will look. If your company already has a website, you may also want to ask your designer for recommendations that can easily be integrated into whatever tool you are already using.
