Presentation Transcript
What is…. • CSUE employees and volunteers are covered under CSU liability coverage against claims when acting within the scope of their employment/volunteer responsibilities. • No ‘Certificate’ is needed for this coverage to be in place. • CSUE does not have ‘accident’ coverage for employees, volunteers, participants, 4-Hers, etc. • Counties may purchase supplemental ‘accident’ insurance.
Information on insurance is currently found on the CSUE website under Faculty/Staff Resources – Employee Resources – Employee Handbook – Glossary of Legal Terms and Issues.
What is required… • If no written document, no certificate is required. • If an entity with no written document requests and certificate, one can be provided. However…. • Cannot list as additional insured. • Cannot issue a waiver of subrogation These MUST be documented in a written agreement.
What we will and won’t do… • We can provide a Certificate without a written document requiring one. • We do not write MOUs for other entities.
If there is a written document… • If the document requires a certificate, but does not require ‘additional insured’ or ‘waiver, just request the certificate. • Do NOT check ‘additional insured’ • Check ‘NO’ on Issue Waiver of Subrogation
If the document REQUIRES the entity be listed as ‘additional insured: • Send document/contract/MOU/Lease agreement to Extension Administration for editing. • Get the edited document SIGNED. • Email copy of SIGNED document along with Certificate Request Form to Risk Management
