  1. A Few Myths About Aging Associated Home Quality Health Care

  2. Myths As people age, they and society on a whole often continues to make assumptions about aging. But, most of them are just myths or aren’t true, at least anymore with our advanced knowledge of healthcare. Here are some of the myths that many people just assume to be true:

  3. Myth #1: Physical disability is inevitable in seniors Truth: While physical disability is more common among seniors, it isn’t age itself that causes it. The main cause of disability in seniors is due to a certain health problem or diseases, such as arthritis or osteoporosis. Arthritis is most often caused due to wear and tear on the cartilage between joints and bones. It can be prevented or controlled if seniors exercise regularly. Also, eating an anti-inflammatory diet can do wonders for reducing pain and stiffness.

  4. Myth #2: Mental decline is inevitable Truth: Forgetfulness, moodiness or even dementia should not be considered a normal part of aging but taken seriously as real health conditions. If your senior family member is becoming forgetful, take them to the doctor to find out if it’s related to medical issues, medication or nutrition.

  5. Myth #3: Nothing can be done to improve heart’s health in senior years Truth: Everyone believes that nothing can be done to improve senior’s heart health due to their age. But, the fact is that there are so many things seniors can do to reduce the risk of heart problems. Exercising regularly, eating a healthy diet, and maintaining a healthy weight can help a lot.

  6. Myth #4: Aging Leads to Less Productivity Truth: Even after retirement, seniors can choose to contribute lots of hours volunteering and giving their time back to the community. Many choose not to retire until they must because they enjoy working.
