  2. LSDA & the National Learning Network The LSDA focus: “LSDA manages a national programme of ILT staff development.   3. Terminology: ILT and e-learning Based on the original eclipse diagram by Markos Tiris, LSDA, 1999, adapted by BECTa 2003.

Background to the standards • FENTO/  LSDA collaboration • funded by LSC in England through NLN with FENTO support in Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland • been developed UK-wide • provide standards for those who use ICT to deliver, plan and manage teaching and supporting learning in FE • standards can be used as standalone or alongside other standards • standards can be used for self- and team-assessment; audit; CPD; recruitment ; to develop people and organisations

  5. Self assessment – how? Based on a standards approachWhat are the ILT standards? ….. an amplification of the FENTO teaching standards and management standards in the ILT context The application of ICT to teaching & supporting learning and management

Teaching and supporting learning Staff involved with: ·         Learning Resource Centres or libraries ·         Obtaining ILT materials ·         On-site learning ·         On-line learning ·         Personal or pastoral support ·         Assessment of learning ·         Providing feedback to learners ·         Induction of learners to the organisation’s learning environment ·         Learner enquiries, applications and enrolment ·         Guidance, advice and diagnosis of learners’ needs, styles and expectations (planning learning) ·         Curriculum planning and validation e-learning standards

Managing ILT throughout the organisation Managers involved with: ·         Developing and communicating a vision and strategy for ILT ·         Creating a culture of innovation ·    Developing and communicating the organisation’s ILT strategy ·         Business process management and improvement ·         Physical environment and resource management ·         Developing and monitoring human resources including continuing professional development ·         Developing policies and procedures ·         Quality assurance e-leadership standards
