  2. Almost always get the job done – regardless of the obstacles • Safety is an obstacle.

  3. The Story of John • Most of us know someone like John • Maybe we know him all too well

  4. John is a supervisor at a Concrete Plant, working on a rare Saturday night • The newspaper article, printed on Sunday morning following the “accident” stated that John was in charge of a crew of workers

  5. It’s my guess that John had a real “can do” attitude at work

  6. People with a “can do” attitude don’t want to be slowed down when there is a job to be done.

  7. It’s also my guess that the company had safety rules regarding the repair and adjustment of the machine John was working on, likely calling for the machine to be “locked out”

  8. John’s head was crushed in that machine and he died of massive head injuries on the job that Saturday night.

  9. What safety equipment are you not wearing? • What safety procedures slow you down?

  10. What procedures are you taking shortcuts with?

  11. If your “can do” attitude doesn’t have safety at the top of your list of things to do, then “accidents” will likely and unfortunately be one of the results you achieve

  19. Sometimes we are happy going thru life doing whatever we want to do, but sometimes when we least expect it, something comes at us from out of nowhere !
