Ununoctium: The Element with Atomic Number 118

Ununoctium, now officially known as Oganesson (Og), is a synthetic element with atomic number 118. It is a member of the noble gases and is placed in group 18 of the periodic table. Discovered in 2002, Oganesson is highly unstable, with a half-life of mere milliseconds. Its production involves colliding californium and calcium ions in particle accelerators. Due to its extreme instability, ununoctium doesn’t have practical applications but serves as an important subject in nuclear chemistry and theoretical physics.
