COMPARATIVE OF EQUALITY • Usado para fazer comparações de igualdade • AS + ADJECTIVE + AS • Studying English is as cool as going to the beach • English classes are as tasty as lasagna • Se o verbo estiver na negativa, usa-se NOT SO + ADJECTIVE + AS • Math classes are not so cool as English classes • Studying is not so important as shopping

  3. COMPARATIVE OF SUPERIORITY • Usado para fazer comparações de superioridade • ADJECTIVE (superiority) + THAN • In my opinion, my kids are smarter than yours • English is easier than Portuguese • My dog is more important to me than any other human being

COMPARATIVE OF SUPERIORITY • Adjetivos monossilábicos: acrescenta-se o –ER no fim: • Tall taller • Strong  stronger • Adjetivos dissilábicos terminados em y: tira-se o y e acrescenta-se –IER: • Ugly uglier • Tasty  tastier • Adjetivos terminados em CVC, dobra-se a última consoante: • Big  bigger • Fat  fatter • Adjetivos com três ou mais sílabas: MORE + ADJECTIVE + THAN: • His eyes are more expressivethananybodyelse’s.
