  1. ELECTRIC MOTOR BEARING LUBRICATION BY: AUNG KHAING HTUN LUBE ENGINEER

  2. AIM • To understand how the proper lubrication of electric motor bearing is essential. • To know how to choose right electric motor grease • To know the correct procedure greasing the motor bearing

  3. Guide to electric motor bearing lubrication • Grease Lubrication • Choosing right electric motor grease • Adding grease to electric motor bearings

  4. Grease Lubrication • reduce friction and wear • protect bearings against corrosion • act as a seal to prevent entry of contaminants POLYUREA Mobil Polyrex EM Mobilith SHC 100

  5. Choosing right electric motor grease • Viscosity • Consistency • Oxidation resistance • Anti-wear • Dropping point • Shear stability

  6. Adding grease to electric motor bearings • Right time • Right amount • Right way

  7. Right time • Speed • Temperature For each 10°C above 65°C Interval Should be Reduced by Half • Size Motor Size Grease Interval Up to 75 HP Yearly75 to 250 HP 6 Months Above 250 HP 2 Months

  8. Right time

  9. Right Amount • Only the grease in the bearing should be replaced: G = .114 x D x B G = Grease ounces • D = OD inches • B = Width inches Translate to gun strokes by calibrating gun for strokes/ounce

  10. Right Amount- Grease Gun Calibration Check -

  11. Right Amount

  12. Right Amount

  13. Right Way • Remove drain plug, clean old grease from drain opening • Clean pressure fitting, grease gun nozzle • Pump specified amount of grease into fitting • Run machine until rotating parts expel excess, temperature normalizes (± 10 minutes) • Replace drain plug
