Asian American Engineers and Architects Amount: $1,000 Criteria: • Eligibility: Applicants must be of Asian descent, must, at a minimum, be a graduating high school senior, • pursuing an education beyond the high school level, have residency in the Houston Metropolitan area, not a • relative of an AAEA Board Member or Officer, and have a commitment toward providing community service. • Demonstration of financial need may be required if selected as a finalist. • AAEA will handle the application, selection, and award of the scholarship. Asian Pacific Islanders for Professional and Community Advancement Amount: $2,000 Criteria: • All full-time graduating high school seniors in good academic standing (minimum GPA 3.40 on 4-point scale, or 4.25 on 5-point scale), of any ethnic or cultural background, who plans to attend an accredited college (2-year and 4-year) or vocational school. • Applicants who are United States citizens or permanent residents of the United States. • Applicants who are residents of one of the following states or metropolitan area where we currently have APCA chapters: Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area (Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia). One way we accomplish this goal is by granting annual non-renewable scholarships to college-bound high school students.  For the 2014 APCA Scholarship Program, we will award 14 national scholarships worth $2000 each. Cat Lift Trucks Amount: $5,000 Criteria: • Applicants must be ranked in the upper one-half (1/2) of his/her graduating class with a minimum overall unweighted grade point average of a “B” or 80% after completion of his/her junior year. Information must be verified with an official transcript.  • Applicants must be planning to major in engineering or a business-related field.  • Applicants must plan to enroll in an accredited college, university or technical school within the state of Texas. If scholarship recipients enroll in a college, university or technical school outside of Texas, their funds will be forfeited and given to the next highest ranking applicant.  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States and/or be born in the United States and a resident of the state of Texas. The choice of school and location is yours to decide. • You must attend our workshop. The workshop is our enrichment component of the program providing information on college admission, financial aid, interviewing skills, life skills, and college survival skills. The workshop is MANDATORY for the senior student applying and at least one parent/guardian.
