Training Objectives • To provide staff with the technical & behavioural skills needed to exercise the full responsibilities of their posts • To provide Cathay Pacific with professionally qualified operations centre personnel who can work effectively in ad hoc teams • To develop the capabilities of the individuals within the IOC to enable them to realise their career potential within Cathay Pacific

  13. Current Status • Historical reliance on On-The-Job training (OJT) • OJT good for familiar situations but not novel ones • Poor Theoretical foundation • Theory allows for reasoning from first principles

  14. Training Strategy • Three Main components • Coursework on Theory • Experiential programme to enhance exposure to operational environment • OJT in use of tools & resources
