  2. Geometry Karate Rules • Make sure you have enough room around you. • Follow your sensei • Only talking is geometrywords!

  3. POINT • Names an exact location in a space! Named: Point A A Action: Punch the Air!

  4. LINE • A line extends without end in opposite directions. Named: Line AB, AB, bA, BA A B Action: Arms out Straight!

  5. Line Segment • Segment means part. It is a part of a line named by two end points. Named: Line AB, AB, bA, BA B A Action: Arms out Straight WITH 2 FIsts

  6. Ray • Part of a line. Has one endpoint and continues on in one direction. Named: Ray AB, AB B A Action: Arms out Straight WITH one FIst

  7. Parallel Lines • Lines in a plane that are always the same distance apart and never intersect B A D C Action: forearms form vertical or horizontal lines

  8. PERPENDICULAR LINES • Lines in a plane that intersect to form right angles C A B D Action: Arms in a “Plus Sign”

  9. ANgle • Two rays or segments that share an endpoint. Named: Angle CAB, BAC, angle A, <CAB, <BAC C A B Action: Arms Out Straight forming an angle

  10. IMPORTANT! • The point that is shared by the two lines is called the vertex! C A B When you name the angle, the vertex is in the middle!

  11. Right Angle • Two rays or segments that share an endpoint that is exactly 90 degrees Named: Angle CAB, BAC, angle A, <CAB, <BAC C A B Action: One arm straight up, the other arm out!

  12. Acute Angle • Two rays or segments that share an endpoint that is less than 90 degrees Named: Angle CAB, BAC, angle A, <CAB, <BAC C A B Action: Arms Out Straight forming an angle

  13. Obtuse Angle • Two rays or segments that share an endpoint that is less than 90 degrees Named: Angle CAB, BAC, angle A, <CAB, <BAC C A B Action: Arms Out Straight forming an angle
