Solutions for the Future • Solutions used by government:  The UK launched a 3 year $122.8 million aid program to help reconstruct the economy  DFID(British’s Department for International Development) provided assistance to Montserrat since the beginning for the volcanic eruption  This includes budgetary aid, technical assistance and funding for capital projects  DFID even developed a new plan to cover the five-year period 2008-12! • Solutions we think will work:  Focus on building new housing for residents who are still affected by the eruption  Try to clean up the environment and make the soil and plants healthier to plant more crops which can help strengthen the economy
