  7. First Week of School In your classroom: Warnings: Pinterest OCD Expectations First Impressions • Management • Procedures • Planning • Survival – yours and theirs

  8. Communication • Make it a priority • Make contact before school starts or soon after • Set the tone for the year • Be positive with parents and students • Don’t wait… or it will be too late! • Notes, calls, emails, postcards, texts…just connect!

  9. Work Smarter, Not Harder • Use numbers • Be organized • Ask your teammates • Fabric • Don’t procrastinate • Any suggestions?

  11. The 3 C’s • Be CLEAR on your expectations for behavior and performance. • Be CONSISTENT—follow through so students know what to expect from you as a teacher • Be COMPASSIONATE—show your students that you really care about them and want them to succeed
